Meet Dr. Thomas

Dr. Thomas is an internationally recognized expert in Facial Plastic Surgery. He is a frequent lecturer and speaker at Facial Plastic Surgery meetings and conferences around the world and at many university training programs. Dr. Thomas’ practice is focused on aesthetic, cosmetic surgery including rhinoplasty, facelift, and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). He also frequently treats facial scars and treats facial defects after skin cancer surgery. He received his MD degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine. He completed his residency training at Yale University and University of Missouri and then a fellowship in Facial Plastic Surgery at Northwestern University. He has served as a Division Head or Chairman at three university training programs and is now a Professor of Facial Plastic Surgery at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine.

He is the past President of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), Past President of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS), and past President of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS). He also served as the president of the Chicago Otolaryngology specialty organization (CL&O). He presently serves as the representative to the American Medical Association (AMA) for Facial Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Thomas has published five textbooks on Facial Plastic Surgery topics including facelift, rhinoplasty and facial scar revision. He has two additional textbooks soon to be published on facelift and facial scar treatment. He has published over 200 textbook chapters and scientific studies in the medical literature. He is presently the Editor of the medical journal, Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics and serves on the editorial board of the international journal, Facial Plastic Surgery.

Awards

Dr. Thomas has received many awards in his career. He has been the “Guest of Honor” at multiple facial plastic society meetings around the world including Singapore, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Taiwan, and Italy. He has been recognized by the British Society of Otolaryngology and the British Society of Facial Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Thomas is named to the Castle Connolly Top Doctors and to the American Institute of Plastic Surgeons 10 Best Surgeons for Illinois.

He received his medical school alma mater Citation of Merit from the University of Missouri. His College alma mater Drury University presented him their Outstanding Alumni award for Career achievement. The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery presented him the William Wright Award for outstanding contributions to Facial Plastic Surgery as well as the Dickenson Outstanding Teacher Award. Recently he received the Outstanding Mentor Award from the Young Physicians Section of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Erin Hoke Chicago | Physician Assistant and Patient Co-ordinator

Erin Hoke

PA-C

Erin Hoke has always had a zest for creativity and a love of science. She has spent her career specializing in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Erin Hoke was the Clinical Coordinator, and Surgery Coordinator for a private practice plastic and reconstructive office and surgery center located in Indianapolis, Indiana for 10 years and then moved to Chicago, IL in 2011 to pursue her passion in Facial Plastics Surgery. She utilizes her advanced knowledge and experience to provide patients with an individualized, customized treatment plan and assists patients in exploring their options. She excels and is dedicated in delivering outstanding, detailed patient education. Erin Hoke, being a perfectionist herself, fulfills many roles in our practice: physician assistant, patient coordinator, and patient advocate. Erin believes in restoring a natural, more youthful appearance, and patients respect and appreciate her meticulous and compassionate approach. She uses her wealth of surgical experience and knowledge in the field to communicate with great ease with all of our patients, and answers a multitude of questions involving all aspects of the facial plastics process.

James C. Wang

MD, PhD

Dr. James C. Wang is the Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellow at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He grew up in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metroplex in North Texas.  He graduated with Honors from the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Sciences Program at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.  He then attended the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York where he earned his BS in biomedical engineering with distinction and minors in biology and chemical engineering. He worked as a biomedical engineer for four years developing gold nanoparticles for the treatment of head and neck cancer at Nanospectra Biosciences, a startup biotechnology company, in Houston, TX. He then attended the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where he completed his Ph.D. in Immunology and Infectious Diseases as well as his MD.  His dissertation was on the development of novel antibiofilm therapies and analysis of bacterial interactions within middle ear fluid and on tympanostomy tubes. He was appointed and currently serves as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. After medical school, he completed his residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Cincinnati where he was privileged to work with multiple facial plastic surgeons including Drs Ryan Collar, David Hom, and Yen Hsieh. He has co-authored multiple IRBs, book chapters, peer-reviewed manuscripts, oral and poster presentations and serves as a reviewer for multiple journals. He looks forward to enhancing his training with an additional year devoted solely to aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, head, and neck.

Victoria Klonis

RN, BSN

Victoria Klonis graduated from Carroll University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Throughout nursing school, she worked in Milwaukee on an Oncology unit while also dancing in the NBA. This opportunity is what truly reinforced her passion for beauty and health. Upon graduation, she moved to Chicago and began her nursing career at Northwestern Memorial Hospital on an Oncology unit. After a few years at Northwestern, she decided to follow her passion for aesthetics and joined our facial plastics team. Victoria is determined to make your surgical experience pleasant while helping you feel confident and beautiful.
